Healthcare Navigation

Healthcare Navigation or patient navigation is an intervention involving a person, group of people or organization that aims to promote access to healthcare for people who are disconnected (marginalized, excluded) from health systems by acting on at least two of the five abilities needed to access healthcare. Acting on a single barrier to access care (e.g. the financial barrier alone) is often insufficient. We therefore decided that support throughout the care path should act on at least two barriers if it is to truly empower patients to access health services.
